Artemis Mission
Artemis Mission is related to Moon. The mission is very important to NASA and all the mankind. NASA’s astronauts decided to revisit the moon. Because of it NASA had made a new scientific lander and rover to land on the moon and research on the moon. Lander is a craft that carry humans or rovers to any planets and moons. NASA made a new lunar lander for the Artemis program. Lander has all the life support systems to live. The lander is designed in scientific ways. This is a great leap from the part of the present civilization.
Lunar lander: Lunar means moon, and who can land a thing is called lander.50 years ago NASA went to the moon. For this mission NASA used Apollo lunar lander. It has two stages,
- Ascent stage.
- Descent stage.
The lander has a nice and powerful propulsion system. It's components is very hard. So, the new lunar lander is better than old lunar lander.
SLS: NASA is using SLS for the Artemis mission. SLS means Space Launch System. NASA is using this SLS for higher thrust. SLS contains a big main fuel tank, two solid boosters and all the other instruments like-lander, orbiter, rover, capsule etc. SLS is the most powerful launch system that human ever built.
Going To The Moon: Over 50 years ago NASA went to the moon.50 years ago NASA used Saturn V rocket to go to the moon. In that mission Neil Armstrong put the first foot in the moon, and the second who put his foot In the moon was Buzz Aldrin. Total 12 astronauts put the foot to the moon. It was a very famous and popular mission. Apollo 11 was the first mission that carried astronauts to the moon. Apollo 17 was the last mission to the moon. In those days Saturn V was the powerful rocket that made by humans.
But now SLS was the most powerful rocket made by humans. SLS was 15% extra powerful than Saturn V.
Artemis Misssion: Artemis moon mission’s first target was to build a moon gateway. Gateway is like the space station which contains life support systems. NASA will make the by a few launches. Lunar lander will be attached in the gateway. For the Artemis moon mission NASA builded a new capsule named Orion. It contains all the life support systems. NASA is planning to live in the moon. To live in the moon we have to know all the moon weather and all the life support systems. To know all this answers NASA is going to the moon once again by the mission called Artemis.
Artemis 1 Launch Date: NASA planned a few missions to go to the moon like-Artemis 1,Artemis 2,Artemis 3,Artemis 4 etc. Artemis 1 was the first mission to visit moon by NASA. Artemis 1 will launch before 2021.According to the current information humans will go to the moon by the Artemis 4 mission.
Landing Site: NASA is planned to land in the far side of the moon.The far side of moon is south pole. South pole of the moon was always hidden to us.there could be much water in the south pole of the moon. And there could be a big amount of helium gas in the south polar region of the moon.
Benefits of the Artemis mission: There are many benefits of the Artemis mission. Space travel will be easier because of the Artemis program. If we have able to live in the moon then we have also able to launch rockets from the moon. moon’s gravity was less than earth’s gravity. so, the Space journey can be done with less expense.
Humans will go to the moon in 2024 as expected. I hope that the Artemis mission will succed and humans will go to the moon. Best of luck NASA.
